Music, prayer and silence

JOIN people for a musical meditation in St John's beautiful chapel with chanting in the style of Taizé at 10am on Saturday mornings throughout Just Festival.

The Taizé community, a monastic order with a strong devotion to peace and justice, has spawned a unique style of worship. Taizé music uses simple phrases, other from the Psalms or other pieces of scripture, to form repeated prayer chants.

The repetition and song aids prayer and meditation, but silence is also at the heart of Taizé worship. Music, prayer and silence come together to make something peaceful, spiritual and distinctive.

Though the chants are from the Christian tradition, these events are open to those of all faiths or of none. The sessions last one hour.
