A powerful play: 'Dirty Paki Lingerie'

SIX Pakistani-American women air their dirty lingerie while struggling to find their place at the chaotic juncture of two very different cultures. Is it halal to wear sexy lingerie?

Sex, politics and religion collide in this outstanding one-woman play by Aizzah Fatima. Set in a post 9/11 America, Dirty Paki Lingerie seeks to break down stereotypes about Muslim women, particularly those associated with the hijab; 'wearing the hijab doesn’t necessitate that one is conservative in all aspects of life'.

Described as 'remarkable', 'poignant' and 'endlessly illuminating', with cultural references ranging from eighteenth century Urdu poetry to Justin Timberlake, Dirty Paki Lingerie promises to entertain and to challenge your preconceptions.

The play will be followed by a discussion with Farkhanda Chaudhry OBE, playwright and performer Aizzah Fatima, and Shabnum Mustapha, Director of Amnesty International Scotland.
